One of S.Wa.P.’s main applications is identifying buried objects or submerged targets located at the bottom of aquatic environments. With this aim, a survey has been carried on at the Trasimeno Lake, near coastline facing Tuoro sul Trasimeno’s municipality. Main target was locating nearshore remains of an old battle where Romans faced Carthaginians in 271 B.C.. Survey has involved Proambiente S.c.r.l., ISMAR-CNR of Bologna, Technical University of Torino, Umbria’s Cultural Heritage Superintendence and Land Authority, Province of Perugia and Tuoro sul Trasimeno municipality. Collected data has shown targets which are not related to lake’s sedimentary history, which dimensions are compatible with old battles remains. Results are now being evaluated by authorities to set up a digging campaign to collect highlighted objects.
